Students Get Smart with SMART Buddy School Sim

The Cristal e-College, in partnership with the country’s leading wireless services provider Smart Communications Inc. (SMART) introduces the CeC InfoBoard, a web-based solution that offers various SMS facilities to address students and even parents' concerns and queries. The project was launched last June 29-30, 2009 at Cristal e-College Panglao Campus where hundreds of students got their free SIM cards to avail of the service.

Looking into the needs of the younger generation and providing the necessary solutions is part of SMART Communications’ service commitment. Through the School SIM, students can subscribe to school announcements such as class suspensions and campus events, get grades, account balances and other pertinent information, and send feedback. Access to class schedules, enrollment dates, tuition rates, and calendar of activities has been made easier. The information can be sorted by college, course or school department, and even be extended to the alumni so they can be kept updated on certain events.

On the other network buzz, Informatics Computer Institute located at Cristal Towers along 50 Maria Clara St., Tagbilaran City is now a WiFi (Wireless Fidelity) zone. This is another justification of its commitment towards academic excellence. The project will boost the students’ learning potential by providing them with the latest technology to achieve the highest standard of education.

The InfoBoard Service is a web-based solution that offers various SMS facilities with different functions and capabilities catering to the needs of Cristal e-College community.

With the InfoBoard, administrators, office heads, clubs and organizations can:

* Receive feedback, comments, suggestions, queries and other user-specific messages straight to email, internet inbox or any specified Smart mobile number;
* Provide general information, advisories and announcements;
* Provide user-specific data like grades, accounts dues, account details, follow-ups, etc.;
* Conduct polls and surveys and provide real time results;
* Create customized SMS solutions; and
* Text broadcast to pre-registered Smart subscribers

College Acquaintance Party and Induction Ceremony with Cesar Montano

CESAR MONTANO, award-winning actor-director and TV host, recently visited Cristal e-College as Guest Speaker for its College Acquaintance Party and Induction Ceremony last July 31, 2009. The occasion started with a ceremonial dinner with Cesar Montano together with the Administrative Officials, Academic Heads and Student Leaders at the Mini-Hotel of the College. Then followed by a campus tour on its state-of-the-art facilities where Cesar Montano was amazed.

In his message, Cesar Montano encouraged the youth primarily on the essence of education to lift up individuals from the bondage of poverty. He also emphasized the importance of one’s values, character and faith towards achieving their personal goals and ambitions. In the same vein, he also inducted the newly elected officers of the Supreme Student Council (SSC). Campus Students’ Organization was also recognized during the event. Cesar Montano is truly an inspiration of the youth in the preservation of their ideals.

Maritime Department Marked History in the 2007 National Maritime Week

Two of our Maritime Cadets won prestigious awards during the National Maritime Week held last September 26, 2007 at SM Cebu. Two of our cadets have shown exemplary performance during the event. M/Ensign. Simplicio C. Dapar of Bilar, Bohol won the Cadet Engine of the Year while M/LT.JG Gino B. Silva from Maribojoc, Bohol won as 1st Runner-up for Deck Cadet of the Year. It was the first time for Boholano maritime students and Maritime School to grab such awards and reached tremendous success in the field of Maritime Education.

Ce-C - SSC Joins Student Government Leadership Development and Exposure Program

Supreme Student Council Prexy Mr. Albert Artiaga and Treasurer Ms. Rendel Rosales joins the Student Government Leadership Development and Exposure Program in partnership with the National Youth Commission (NYC) and Bohol Alliance of Student Councils (BASC) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED)last November 3-8, 2009 in Metro Manila, Tagaytay City and Subic Freeport.

The said program aims to boost the student government capabilities in terms of leadership and management, critical thinking, research and policy development, networking and social marketing, financial management, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation.

The exposure program component is design to expose participants to local business, educational institutions, historical sites, government offices and community organizations to deepen understanding on Philippine history, arts and culture, entrepreneurship, youth development, eco-tourism and agriculture which are the economic engines for Bohol's progress and development.

The Supreme Student Council

What is the Supreme Student Council?

The Supreme Student Council (SSC) is the highest governing Student Body in Cristal e-College.

The Cristal e-College – Supreme Student Council (Ce-C – SSC) is mandated to promote the general welfare of the students, to assert and defend the rights of the students, to advocate Academic Freedom, and ultimately to uphold its constitution and that of the Republic of the Philippines.

The Supreme Student Council President, Vice – President and its 6 Councilors are voted at large through an election held every last Friday of June, and will hold office at the council for a year.

Declaration of Principles and Objectives

The Ce-C - SSC believes in the following:

a. That access to education should be afforded to all in accordance with the rules and regulations of the College, the policies of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED and the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.

b. That education should be primarily centered on the full development man's social, political,cultural,intellectual and spiritual potentials in order to realize a human and humane existence or all.

c. That education should serve the needs and aspirations of the studentry in particular and the Filipino people in general.

The Ce-C - SSC aims to:

a. Promote and uphold academic freedom.

b. Develop a sense of unity among the students of Cristal e-College.

c. Adhere to democratic principles,practices and processes, and to abide by the principle that the majority prevails over the minority.

d. Instill a sense of responsibility among the students in serving the whole academic community in particular and the society in general.

e. Disseminate vital and relevant information in order to develop a truly free and democratic studentry.

f. Support the development of a universal and humanistic system of education.

g. Coordinate with the different sectors of the academic community of the College for the purpose of maintaining a harmonious relationship between the administration and the studentry.

Bill of Rights

Subject to the limitation prescribed by law, by the rules and regulations of the CHED and the College, the students shall have rights to herein enumerated in addition to other rights they may have under the Constitution and the laws of the Republic:

a. No student shall be subject to disciplinary action without due process of law.

b. The student shall enjoy the freedom to peacefully assemble and petition the school authorities for redress of grievances.

c. The rights of the students to form organizations for purposed not contrary to law and student handbook shall not be curtailed.

d. The right to publish a student newspaper and other similar publications, as well as to invite resource persons during assemblies,symposia and other similar activities shall be implemented.

e. The right to be properly informed of school policies,rules and regulations.

f. The right to competent and continuing instruction and proper evaluation and grading of academic performance.

g. The right to expeditious issuance of official Transcript of Records (TOR),grades,certifications,diplomas,clearances and other similar documents.

h. No student shall be denied access to his own official school records.
